OPF is a thermally stable, oxidized PAN fiber with excellent thermal and chemical resistance. OPF fiber does not burn, melt or char, resists most chemicals, is impervious to molten-metal splash and has exceptional electrical resistance.

It has a wide variety of applications including protective clothing, sealing devices, friction products and protective coverings. Spun yarns are easily converted to fabric or braids using standard textile equipment. OPF is also available as a staple fiber for produc tion of mats and felts, or production of spun yarns
